The end of the 2023 Regular Legislative Session saw two wins for NYACS while many of our industry's issues tracking were left unaddressed - which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
NYACS held a press conference at Chestnut Markets in Yorktown Heights to urge the Westchester County Board of Legislators to reject a proposal that would prohibit licensed wholesalers and retailers from selling flavored tobacco products.
NYACS continues to advocate for an increased lottery commission with our newest official request to Governor Hochul. For over 50 years the commission has been set at 6%. While lottery sales volume has steadily risen since then, the resulting additional commission income to lottery sales agents has been far outstripped by sharp growth in their operating expenses. In 2022 we did a great job elevating this issue in the Capitol. We will continue that progress in 2023. Stay tuned!
